Clearance cairns are unstructured collections of fieldstones which have been removed from arable land to allow a more effective cultivation of the land. These collections date back to the Bronze Age and exist as well as being still used worldwide.
The work is based on the clearance cairn on Hof Blum, a biological farm that anually invites artist to develop a commissioned work in response to their agricultural place.
In the german word for fieldstone is Lesestein and could be literally translated as reading stone and this amiguity gave rise to this textual, timbased piece, which questions the temporality and relation of these mineral travellers to the land and its current human management. Words and meanings passing through and with the grounds.
